Discover fresh, new ways to wear your silk scarf this summer

Like a lot of the women I know, I am always looking for ways to make my wardrobe look fresh without having to buy a new outfit every week, which can be hard with the barrage of images of pretty, new, shiny things that we’re exposed to every day.  Recently, I have become drawn to the idea of stretching out your existing wardrobe as much as you can, because who really wants to own something that can only be worn one way? Where’s the fun in that?

One day, I was deep in a Pinterest hole (we’ve all been there, let’s just admit it) and found myself pinning a whole lot of summery images that involved scarves.  Now, most of the time, I see these kinds of images and I think to myself, ‘man, I could never pull that off!’, but this time, a little voice inside my head told me that maybe I could… so that’s exactly what I did (or at least tried to do!).  Now I present to you, 5 ways that you can rock your silk scarf this summer!

Ah the topknot, a summer staple.  The topknot is perfect for those summer days that slip into summer nights, just wrap the scarf around your bun and you’re looking chic.  For a slightly less chic occasion, you can even use it to cover up that sweaty gym bun at work (guilty!).

This is a look that’s been around Instagram a lot lately, so I was super keen to give it a go, until I realised it didn’t look as amazing on people with short hair - but hey, we’re here to experiment, right?  Instead of the low pony, I decided to go for a bit of a low, relaxed bun and wrap it around and you know what?  I think it worked out really well!

This was a tricky one, but I think it can end up looking really cool.  The first time I tried this look, I wrapped the scarf around the lower part of my wrist and had the watch above it, but honestly it just looked like I had a sprained wrist.  Then I swapped it around; it felt a whole lot more natural and looked better too, I might add.  I also tried it with the ends left out for a more casual look, which I ended up liking best.

It’s obvious, I know, but it has to be said.  There are tonnes of ways that you can wear it around your neck.  My favourites are the more cowgirl style, where you fold your scarf into a triangle, wrap it around your neck and tie at the back and your classic roll up, wrap up and tie at the front.

Second to having it tied around my neck, wearing my scarf around my bag is my favourite way to add my scarf to my look.  This look also helps me to add a pop of colour to my mostly all-black outfits and, let’s be honest, it looks super cute!

There are a lot more ways to wear a silk scarf, but this is just a little taste for you.  I hope you get out there and get to experiment with some and, if you do, tag me!  I would LOVE to see how you’re styling your scarf.
